The same person every time. And never made to feel foolish for asking.
Patient, friendly technology help for an older parent in Kelowna or the Okanagan. Not a call centre. Not a different voice each time. One person who learns their setup and is there when they need them.
If you've quietly become the family tech support
You're far away, and the phone keeps buzzing.
The email won't open. The bank app logged itself out again. Something popped up on the screen and now nobody's sure if it's real or a scam. You talk them through it for the fourth time this month, and you both hang up a little more worn down than before.
Arelo takes that off your plate without taking anything away from them. One patient local person handles the technology, so the next call from your mum or dad can just be a phone call.
What Arelo actually is
Quiet backup, the kind a good neighbour used to be.
One patient person, based here in Kelowna, who comes to your parent or helps over the phone and screen, learns exactly how their devices and accounts are set up, and stays available when something breaks or something new needs working out.
They stay in charge of everything, always. Arelo is not someone taking over. It's someone in their corner with all the time in the world for the question they've been a little embarrassed to ask.
How it works
Three steps, no pressure at any of them.
A first conversation
We talk. You tell me what's been going on. No jargon, no cost, no pressure. If Arelo isn't the right fit for your family, I'll say so plainly.
I learn their world
I get to know your parent and exactly how their devices, accounts and routines work, at their pace, never made to feel rushed or slow.
You have someone
From then on there's one person to call. The same person. For the scam that looks real, the update that broke something, or the video call that needs to work before the grandkids are online.
What we help with
The everyday things that have quietly become hard.
- A new phone, tablet or computer, set up properly the first time
- Video calls with the grandkids that actually connect
- Spotting and stopping scam calls, texts and emails before they do harm
- Passwords, without the panic
- The printer (yes, really)
- Photos: where they go, and how to find them again
- Email that behaves itself
- Using the bank and government websites safely
- The slow, patient "can you just show me again" that no one else has time for
Founding families
Arelo is new, on purpose.
I'm taking on the first 20 families personally and working alongside them while we prove this is genuinely worth it.
Founding families pay nothing during the proving period. When Arelo moves to paid, your rate stays at $249 a month for as long as you're with us, even as it rises for everyone who comes after you.
- No contract. Stop whenever you like, for any reason.
- Your feedback shapes what Arelo becomes.
- You'll be working directly with me, not a sales team.
Where the lines are
A few things Arelo will never do.
- Never ask for banking passwords or PINs, and never move your parent's money.
- Never take over decisions. Your parent stays in charge of everything, always.
- Never hand you a call centre or a rotating team or a script. You will always deal with me, Kale.
- Never take on more families than I can give real time to. Small is the point, not a limitation.
A note from the founder
Why Arelo exists.
There has never been more waiting on the other side of a screen. The grandkids' photos. The Sunday video call. The bank, the doctor, the boarding pass, the friend you thought you'd lost touch with. Almost everything good is in there now.
And there has never been a harder time to be left to work it out alone. Everything updates without warning. Nothing explains itself. One wrong tap and the screen fills with things that look like threats. For a lot of people, trying to learn it doesn't feel like learning. It feels like standing at the bottom of a wall. So they stop trying. Not because they can't, but because every attempt so far has taught them they'll be made to feel slow for asking.
That's the part I couldn't leave alone. It was never really about the technology. It's that a whole world opened up and quietly left some people standing outside it, and most of them are far too proud to say so out loud.
Arelo is my answer to that. One patient person who comes to you, learns how your things are set up, and has all the time in the world for the question you've been a little embarrassed to ask. You stay in charge of everything. I just make sure the door back into all of it stays open.
Talk to Kale
The best place to start is a conversation.
Call or text me directly. If you'd rather, leave your details and I'll call you back myself, usually the same day.
